In the New York Times today:
Michael Crichton, Novelist, Becomes Senate Witness
It seems that the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works is seeking Mr. Crichton's opinion to help them make up their mind if we should should be worried about global warming. Apparently they consider him an expert because he wrote a book called State of Fear, that deals with that very subject. Committee chairman, Senator James M. Inhofe, is so enamored of the book that he has declared it required reading for the members of his committee.
I wish I had something very clever and witty to say in response to this, but I don't. I just find it pretty freaking scary.
